VdS helps: €20,000 for sick & disabled children
The employees of VdS have welcomed in the new year with a dona-tion campaign. Customers of Europe’s largest institute for corporate safety and security also supported the collection. Thanks to this commitment, VdS CEO Dr. Robert Reinermann was able to hand over a total of € 20,000 to representatives of four non-profit making organisations this Monday. The donations were presented for the sixth time in as many years to “Make a Wish”, “Us for Kids”, “Open School of Cologne” and the “Foundation for Children with Cancer”.
Two Cologne mayors, Elfi Scho-Antwerpes (SPD) and Hans-Werner Bartsch (CDU), who participated in the hand-over, emphasised in the name of the cathedral city their ”many, many thanks for the commendable donors and the achievements of the voluntary organ-isations. It is extremely important, but by no means self-evident, es-pecially in economically more difficult times like this, that a company and, above all, its workforce are committed to the common good.”
Marlene Merhar, a holder of ”The Order of Merit of the Federal Re-public of Germany“ from the Foundation for Children with Cancer, in whose family house in the grounds of the Cologne University Hos-pital the donation hand-over took place, was delighted: ”In addition to all the important medical activities we can also put some sunshine into the everyday lives of many of our kids thanks to the donation of Europe’s No.1 for safety and security – and thus push this terrible disease into the background for at least a while.”
Dr. Andreas Reimann from “The Open School of Cologne”, an in-clusive comprehensive school, explained: “With your support, we will help a multitude of children to achieve school leaving qualifica-tion and therefore to a better life regardless of their conditions – many thanks to the VdS team.”
”Your donation will directly benefit the terminally ill `Star Children´ we are looking after“, said Petra Gast, Managing Director of “Us for Kids”. ”Together we provide fast and unbureaucratic aid for numer-ous affected families with, amongst others things, the important psy-chosocial care of parents and siblings.”
Christa Mohr, from the Board of “Make a Wish”, the German-wide organisation fulfilling the heart’s desires of seriously ill children and young people, reported: “Thanks to the great support of VdS in re-cent years, we have given so many sick girls and boys not only un-forgettable moments, but above all courage and a new lease of life. Also again in 2017, we will, together with you, be able to make so many more wishes and dreams come true.”
Dr. Robert Reinermann, spokesman of the VdS executive board, emphasised at the hand-over of the € 20,000: “It pleases us greatly to hear such kind words – thanks go, above all, to your years of vol-untary service. We from the VdS team hope we are able to help with this donation to bring a little joy and perhaps even to better chances of recovery of the children and young people in your care.”
